Sunshine's cinematics dragged unmercifully. Galaxy desperately needs a brief but impactful opening. The possibilities are endless when linked with the DS. The other potential for this could be planets which enable Wi-Fi downloads to the DS. This could be retro planets in the graphical style of the 8-bit Mario games, or spacecraft levels, thus "entering" your own Super Mario Galaxy. Planets downloaded onto the Wii via the WiiConnect24 service. Two potential areas Nintendo could hit on could be: Otherwise, we would guess that Nintendo Tokyo studio's Mahito Yakota could be involved he incidentally composed the soundtrack for Donkey Kong Jungle Beat and prior to that worked on such KOEI games as Kessen and Winback. No word yet if he'll be constructing a soundtrack for Galaxy, although it would seem likely. He's currently working on soundtracks for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess with Toru Minegishi and Super Smash Bros. IGN Wii: Famous composer Koji Kondo was responsible for the memorable soundtrack in Super Mario 64 and, for that matter, Super Mario Sunshine. It needs to stick with what has been successful for years. Those kinds of characteristics should not change. Mario has always been brave, cheerful, and adventurous. Mario's personality also does not need to change. Of course there will be some new characters but the Mario feel may die if the old school characters are excluded. The classic characters also need to be included. Take the water levels on Super Mario 64 for instance. There also needs to be very interesting and unique music. All of the famous Mario titles have had lots of color it needs to stay that way. Colorful games seem more appealing than non-colorful ones. Not every outing need have a multiplayer component to be great.įirst of all, Super Mario Galaxy definitely needs lots of color. We'd much rather developers perfect the single-player experience. In the upcoming Metroid Prime 3, there is no multiplayer mode of any kind, an omission that IGN applauds. In Metroid Prime 2, developer Retro Studios added a multiplayer mode that few cared about.

The franchise was born and has existed as a single-player phenomenon in the same way that the Metroid series has. However, we don't necessarily feel that Super Mario Galaxy needs a multiplayer mode, let alone an online one. We're confident that Luigi will be a playable character.

Nice, nifty, but not exactly a fit reward for beating the game, particularly if you have not collected all the shine sprites. In Sunshine, you get sunglasses and a shirt.
In SMB64 DS, this game has an exception: you find the keys, you unlock mini-games. As great as the Mario series is, the one gripe I have with it is probably the lack of hidden/unlockable content. I don't need to say much on this one, but if one has played the 2P game in New SMB, then it is highly addictive, and Nintendo can market on that, especially with this new controller.ģ. No doubt, multiplayer, possibly even online. Kind of like saying, "Ah here he is, now it's gonna get good." I do like the new universe of Mario, but classics and familiar faces should also be present.Ģ. I have seen Mario games succeed without Bowser kidnapping the princess, but Bowser is not only a classic bad guy, but he's also likeable. Offering suggestions to the next installment of Mario makes one think.
